Many people have received long distance calls advising people that they have won a 5-day vacation for only $99. The recorded message asks the winner to dial \"9\" to speak to an operator.
This is a scam, if you receive such a call, please HANG UP immediately and DO NOT press \"9\". If you do, others will be able to place long distance calls from your telephone line and charges will be forwarded to our bill.
Cheers,
I received a similar warning email.I do not know how far this is true. Anyway, it is better to be careful..........
FYI - in case you haven't seen this yet
90# on the telephone
PASS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW
I received a telephone call last evening from an individual identifying himself as an AT&T Service technician who was conducting a test on telephone lines. He stated that to complete the test I should touch nine(9), zero(0), the pound sign (#), and then hang up. Luckily, I was suspicious and refused.
Upon contacting the telephone company, I was informed that by pushing 90#, you give the requesting individual full access to your telephone line, which enables them to place long distance calls billed to your home phone number. I was further informed that this scam has been originating from many local jails/prisons. I have also verified this information with UCBTelecom,Pacific Bell, MCI, Bell Atlantic and GTE. Please beware.
DO NOT press 90# for ANYONE.
The GTE Security Department requested that I share this information with EVERYONE I KNOW.
PLEASE pass this on to everyone YOU know.
If you have mailing lists and/or newsletters from organizations you are connected with, I encourage you to pass on this information to them.
After checking with Verizon they said it was true, so do not dial
(9),zero(0), the pound sign # and hang up for anyone.
PLEASE HIT THAT FORWARD BUTTON AND PASS THIS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW

Guys, In all good faith, i see ur good-will, But...
Anytime u receive an email warning, Please take time to use google to see if its a hoax or not.
I hate email chains.... Most of 'em are started by people who dont have anything worthwhile to do in their lives. Dont fall prey...
As an example, Just google for "phone scam 90#" and see what comes up

Yes I have received this kind of call 3-4 times couple of months ago. But fortunately all the time the call was gone in my voice mail as all the time I was not unable to pick up the call. But I don't know what would happened if I pressed the number 9.
The number on my caller ID was +1 305 675 6263
