I am moving to Edmonton from India in next month. I had worked in Oman (Muscat) for 8 years & have valid license since year 2006. Also i have valid international driving permit (IDP) from Oman. I have indian valid driving license since 1992. Can anybody suggest me what is the procedure in Alberta for obtaining G3 license?

Just bring your Oman driving licence . Keep Indian licence in India only .As per canadian law you have to surrender all your dirving licence . Once you land to canada first you have to apply for health card then open bank account once you receive your health card or your bank account's cheque book at your residential address then only you can start your procedure to get driving licence . They need your proof of residencial address . No matter what ever licence you have first you have to apply for learning licence . You have to appear for online computer test . This test comprise of signs , rules and regulations of traffic and driving . Once you pass this online test then they will issue learner licence .Now you can submit your oman driving licence and can ask them that you have more than 2 years of driving experience and want to appear for road test . They will check authentity your oman driving licence , once they confirm then you can appear for road test . Once you pass road test then you will get licence . Check link below to practice computer test . Prepare well for computer test ... Al though I passed road test on first trial but I failed twice in computer test.

Thanks dear. This information is very much useful for me. Also let me know if there is any requirement of authenticity letter from RTO for getting the licence? It is very difficult to get it by Oman RTA as i have already left that country. Please help me to clear my doubt.

For Oman licence no need of any letter from RTO . It is required for indian licence . In your case you just bring your oman licence and submit it once you pass the computer test . Make sure that your oman licence is still valid .
