In what is being seen as a victory for racial equality in the United States, the man convicted of killing Indian immigrant Balbir Singh Sodhi shortly after the 9/11 attacks has been sentenced to death.
Frank Roque was convicted on September 30 for shooting Sodhi, a Sikh petrol station owner, in front of his service station in the Arizona city of Mesa four days after the September 11 terror attacks on the United States.
Sodhi was attacked after he was mistaken for an Arab because of his flowing beard and turban.
Prosecutors had told the court that Roque had also fired shots at the residence of an Afghan family and another service station which employed a Lebanese-American cashier.

A Proud Indian Canadian
Why is it so that goras do not understand the difference between Arabs and Sikhs. Infact even from their appearence they look very different.
Sikhs wear different style of turbans. Even the language they speak is also different.
I am totally against cold blooded killings. killing some one for his religious identity or his appearence is really disgusting. People need to understand that whatever happened on 9/11 was bad and unfortunate and it is the responsibility and the job of the State to catch the culprits and prosecute them in accordance with the legal process. No one has got the rights to punish any one without giving the other person a chance to defend himself. Such incidents really hurt the heart.
