Funny thing about this posting. I called about this position, Rajesh patel says that he is "looking for a girl" for this position. I was enquiring on behalf of a a friend of mine ( who unfortunately "is not a girl"
.I was wondering - is it not legal for a potential employer to discriminate on the basis of gender? Strictly an academic question......... I know we don't live in a fair and just society.
I remember when a friend of mine wanted to let out his apartment, and read out the copy to the Mississauga News, they refused to publish the words "vegetarians preferred". They called it "discriminatory" to have it in the copy.
Any comments?

If the position requires a female, the employer has all rights to hire what he needs. An example - Hooters would not be what it is if you had male hunks as waiters instead of the busty waitresses that is their hallmark.
You do not have male strip dancers in a strip club that has males as patrons.
However, if the employer calls itself an "equal opportunity employer" then it cannot discriminate on any grounds.

I find it hard to believe that. If I am letting out my home, I am well within my rights to pick and choose the tenant in whatever which way I want.
After all it is my home and I decide who lives in it and who doesn't. Things are different though once the apartment has been let out, because then the tenant is protected under the tenant protection act.
