The primary and main reason of Indian students going to USA/Australia/Canada is to get the immigration easily. If someone want to compare the education standard, just check out the course contents of any grade of India and Canada/Australia/USA. Any average student from India can easily score top marks here in Canada but its not true the other way.

Then why is India not a better place to live in compared to Canada? I would think that better education leads to better living..........or is there a flaw in my thinking?

I do agree with Chandresh better education leads to better living but these are some of the major reasons why India not a better place to live in compared to Canada:

1- Political Corruption
2- Infrastructure: I know that lot of changes are happening in Metro cities but if you go out to small towns/rural areas things are pretty much same (drinking water, electric power outage etc)
3 - Law and order situation: Self explanatory :)
4 - Population rate : No political patry is ready to consider this as an issue for obvious reason. This is probably one of the core issue impacting poverty level, basic education etc.

We have so much natural resource and human resource talent and I really wish we'll be able to overcome those obstacles and EAST OR WEST INDIA WILL BE THE BEST: cheers:

You are right that better education leads to better living but in India still even literacy rate is very poor (forget about secondary/university education).

Well the fact is that though education in India is very good , only a handful can make use of it ... due to poverty , population and political/socio reasons ..... You can't change a country by making 10% educated .

You even don’t need 10% educated to bring the change…..even less can change the state of any country. How many % can pass out the university in NA. I think less than 10% of the total High school student population. In NA, the school system doesn’t want everyone to go to University. They want only few of them go for higher education and lead the rest. We need leaders less than 10%.

Another aspect of NA education system is its opportunities. You have opportunities to be on right track and at the same time, you even have greater opportunities to be off the track (here on track means to achieve the purpose of schooling). There are plenty of opportunities of enjoyment which divert from the main goals. In India, there are less opportunities of getting you off the track – your family members can force you, up to some extent, to be on track. This is all based upon my personal experience, which may have changed at present.

At my time, around 25-30 years back, the government school education was also of good standard and there was not much gap in quality of education between government schools and private schools. Later, that gap broadens but still in private schools and in some government schools, one can have good education.

Boarding schools are still a good option for a quality education. Indian school system is getting influenced by the western schooling system but how it will impact to the society – can’t say anything for sure.

I'm digressing away from the topic.

But I want to open your eyes.

Please have a look at your childs high school year book.

If your kids are small or grown up please borrow your neighbour kids high school year book.

Just count the number of students in each school and then start counting the number of Desi students in high school.

Please find the percentage.

Also if you are in GTA, please read the names and make a separate count of the Desi students by their names.

Please find the percentage again.

I promise you that you are in for a big JOLT.

Welcome to CANADA.
