To the OP with due respect - it's just a dream and will remain a dream at least in our lifetime.

What humour me is the fact that people here on CD talk about IIT, IIS, IIMs as if everyone is getting into one in India. You may survey how many IITians, IISians, and IIM graduates remain in India. Also, even those who remain in India won't dream of a foreign placement. Yes, even in these recessionary times.

Again, a dream - far from reality.

FEBPREET - you couldn't have said it better. You are NOT in a dream like state and see things as with as much realism as you can. Of course, there might be brickbats that might come your way but that's OK. Truth can not be hidden!

The primary and main reason of Indian students going to USA/Australia/Canada is to get the immigration easily. If someone want to compare the education standard, just check out the course contents of any grade of India and Canada/Australia/USA. Any average student from India can easily score top marks here in Canada but its not true the other way.

I completely disagree with you. You should just google and find out how many patents are registered by Indians compared to American. Also just try to find out how many new medcines are invented by Indians compared to Americans.

Out of billion people, if a few who gets in to IIM or IIT are better than their counter parts, it is nothing great. On average an Indian student or graduate lacks the communication skills and confidence. I guess this thread again will be going to be about which education system is better. Let me say at the outset that I do not deride Indian education system but I absolutely believe that Noth American education system is much better in the sense that it develops overall personality of a person in addition to providing excellent education. That is the reason Americans have won many more Noble prize in science and medicine while India is nowhere in picture. With the kind of socio economic picture that India has, I do not think they will have any significant contribution in next couple of decades.

I agree with above statement and my personal view/findings after working here in NA (different age groups, all levels including C level executives). For sure there are exceptions and please treat this as my personal opinion only :)

Agree with OP, it is still better than Ethiopia ,Sudan and some Eastern Bloc countries. I hope this is what you see in the picture. I have seen students in my hometown from those countries.

Re-write the title as "India, a better place to study".

Trust me, the whole world one or other way revolves around North America. I know lot us will defy this with utmost resistance and disagreement.
