Check this forum below. Its about a smart , intelligent, hardworking kid ( guessing White ), who wants to move to Fort Mac. He is willing to learn and get piece of the pie. .but NO skills per se.
But most people, who live in Fort Mac have adviced him NOT to come unless he has skills and jobs lined up.

The thing about the camps is also interesting. It costs companies $$$$ to house people there, so NO not every Tom, Dick and Harry will be living there , only the most valuable and in demand people.
Its a Fools Paradise, if you have NO skills
WTH, you are marrying a woman in Vancouver ? Marry a woman in Gods Own Country instead
AT,
I think I will have to agree with you. I just browsed jobs at Fort MacMurray and found that even a labourer has to have Driving licence to drive trucks and this is for unskilled labour.
Majority of jobs lined up are :
1. COnstruction Managers ( Knowledge of Oil Sands construction).
2. Safety offices (with some certifications) etc..
I guess, it might not be like India. In India, when I applied for the post of an "Architect" at L&T who should have 10 years minimum experience ( and I had 1 year experience when I applied), I got selected because of internal politics, the Manager never sent interview letters to more experience people, to safeguard his job.
Anyways, I will try to apply to some jobs and see the response and advice CD.

AT,
I think our postings will confuse Chandresh too much.
He is thinking that we both are the same person.
What he does not know is that you just woke up in Canada and are posting before you leave for the office or you are posting from the office once you have reached there for the morning and that I am posting in the late evening, before I leave for home.
Lol !
