Hey everyone,
If you are into real South Indian food, this restaurant is the best. A typical restaurant you will find back home the wash basin for those eating with their hands, the cashier who punches each transactionto tally end of the day. I was really taken up and felt real homely and the food was excellent. I tried the tiffin which was great.
Cheers,
Iceman.
Talking of samosa, the one in Missisauga called A-1 catering (or A-1 samosa?). They make it like pastries. Triangle in shape, not hte odd shape others do. BTW, punjabis know very well how to make samosa, not others. We took about 50 when we were GTA last year.
I VISITED THIS PLACE LAST WEEK AND I DIDN'T LIKE IT AND WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE IT IS THESE
1) THERE PRICE ARE HIGH
2) QUANTITY IS VERY LESS
3) SMABHAR'S TEST LIKE DAAL AND MASALA IS VERY LESS
SO FOR MY MONEY WHAT I HAVE 3 MASALA AND 1 SADA DHOSA WHICH COST ME MORE THEN $25.00
I had been there last week.
A lot many improvements over my last visit. I asked the manager if he reads Canadian desi.
The prices have been slashed. gandhisaab, the prices in Jan were killing. You would have ended up paying $50 for what you had.
The food is not that spicy. I asked the waiter if the owner gets to keep the tips. He did not answer... So I don't know whats up.
Anyways, the restaurant food and the demeanour are improving.

A CANADIAN INDIAN
This restaurant in Scarborough is worth trying. The food is being prepared by tamilnadu chefs and the price is very reasonable.
Only drawback is that the place doesn't look that cosy...
The food is very good but very expensive. Price is the same as in January. May be more. Very expensive. Tips - the tired and exploited waiter does not get at all. I put my tips in cash in the waiter's pockets otherwise it will go to the owner
hey just reading up all the posts on saravana bhavan..ive been there...
good food... maybe a bit pricey... prices havent changed at all since opening... tips are not at all taken by owner...they are divided up among staff...but all collected together nonetheless
whereas waiters are concerned... the last time i went in they had new uniforms which i think are better than the stuff they had on before which i agree was ...well... not to my liking...
overall id rate it a 4.5/5 for good efficient service, good authentic food.. (im from madras and this stuffs as authentic as u can get)... and well a slightly higher price which i dont mind paying as much as long as they maintain the aforementioned.. 2 thumbs up
