you may check with any of the waiters there. They are a frustrated lot. They look so tired and exhausted working twelve /thirteen hours each day. It is indeed very sad that a desi restaurant is run like this.
I went to Sarvana Bhavan on the day it opened because
(1) I heard alot about it, we had a Sarvana Bhavan in Bombay and
(2) I wasnt aware of any other udipi joint in Mississauga.
1. The hostess was authentic and had a pleasant demeanor.
2. The location was very clean.
3. The girl who served us had no idea what the dishes were called or what they looked like, she gave us other people's orders, gave us half our food and brought the other half later on. At once point my mom noticed that her masala dosa had no pav bhaji on the inside- so it had to be taken back and was brought out with the bhaji haphazardly shoved inside. (We noticed other people having the same problems.)
4. The quantities were tiny (the plates were huge- which might have made the quantities seem even smaller), we were quite hungry when we finished.
5. The prices were exorbitant. It came to about $50 for 5 people and we had to go to Bombay Bhel to have a 'real dinner.' I dont mind paying as long as I get my money's worth ... I didnt.
Im not sure how much of this was due to the fact that it was opening day. It wasnt really busy and there were no people waiting for a table while we were there.) I have not gone there again.

There is a place between Creditview and Mavis on Britannia called "India Sweets' ... the cleanliness of the place is questionable, but the taste is amazing. It services my Punjabi food cravings when I have them. The Chana Batura is recommendable.
... still looking for the elusive Udipi joint to serve me up a rip-roaring Masala Dosa like they did in Bombay!

Now Im plain envious of you .... please dont say you get Chowpatty type kulfi on a banana leaf there too or I might just spontaneously combust with jealousy!

Hi Guys,
I recently came across a very nice south indian restaurant called 'neelgiri' in scarborough. Infact we were referred by a friend living in missisauga about a few months back and when we ourself tried, it proved to be a decent one.We are a regular since.
Our opinion is :
1. Food quality : Best idlies in town for sure, dosa is pretty good too . We have tried onion utthapam as well which was average. Sambhar is slightly more spicey than usual
2. Pricing : on the economical side as its mostly a takeout place
3. Sitting area : Not good/sufficient , only couple of tables
4. Location: One block north of markham/Mcnicoll - inside Markham-Mcnicoll centre
So those living nearby can try it , if they want.
This last weekend I went to a place called Madras Dosa Hut ... which is located at Rathburn/Tomken (in Mississauga) ... it was amazing!
The food was tasty, the portions were adequate and the price was good. Highly recommend it.

Nilgiris - It is better you avoid this place. Dosa and Idli may be good but i cannot take the stink. The restaurant smells awful - Health inspector will close the restaurant after a visit.
Madras Dosa hut - I would never go there - It is both veg and Non veg. Cannot stand.
Chennai Chef - another dirty place on earth though 100% veg.
