How many of you have changed your eating/food habits after coming to Canada?
Like, are you still insisting that you should have a typical Indian Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner?
Similarly, how about your way of dressing, outlook, participation in community, helping your spouse, etc, etc?
Have you changed for the better or worse ?( in your spouse's ,friends', and relatives',view)

I have changed my food habits after coming here. I used to have a DECENT breakfast , lunch , evening snack and then dinner while in India. Every meal was a leisurely affair with family or friends. Here breakfast is a sandwich eaten on a crowded TTC train , lunch a 3 dollar pile of inedible crud at a Chinese fast food , evening snack is a packet of doritos and dinner is reheated leftovers from the weekend. Life in Canada is just WONDERFUL!

I have started taking just one full meal after coming here. Depending on whether I work day-shift or afternoon shift, I have lunch or dinner. If I work afternoon shift I have to take my food before 5 as after that, there are less people around & I can't get break.
Uptil now, my wife was not working so I used to get fresh food. Now she has started working full-time, have to re-heat food & eat.
Can't afford eating outside food. Haven't been to a restaurant after coming here. Sometimes I have an iced cappucino at Tim Hortons which is like once in a month.
Thanks & regards.
Rajan.

Let's make India a better place !
No wonder immigrants are so healthy!
a different perspective:
Eating: 4-5 times a day(hit the gym at 6am)...smaller meals...along with protein supplements at least once. No more rice/bread(atleast not white) as it was in India. Totally avoding the rice/bread/roti for dinner(since I cannot burn them off while sleeping). Predominantly non-veg food. Asleep by 10-11(except on weekends). Wife does more or less the same things...excet hits the gym after I leave for work.
Wife runs a biz from home so I do the heavy manual labor(yard, plumbing, fixing etc) while the cooking cleaning falls to the wife(unless it is brbQ).
Dressing...more or less the same...adapted to different style as is inevitable.
Outlook-more or less the same
Spend more time involved in exercise, swimming, biking etc now as compared to India. Mostly with family. Hoping to maintain the same this winter...last winter was a bit more difficult due to the younger child being a bit too young.
Am able to give priority to things that matter most to me(family) on the weekends.
So all in all, pretty major changes in lifestyle compared to India...and loving it.

Since I work different shifts & even work weekends (try not to work on Sundays), it is difficult to take out time with family.
In India, I used to exercise regularly doing Yoga. After coming here, haven't been able to do it regularly.
Nowadays since wife has started working, we meet mostly in the car. She works from 6 to 2 & I work from 3 to 6. On her off days I work full time.
Habits change, one has to adjust with time.
Any tips on home business for the wife, Jake?
Thanks.
Rajan.
