Hi,
We are going to apply for OCI for myself, wife and my son - 9 yrs old.
One question is not clear to me, in website it says about name change following:
11.Change of name documents: In case the name of applicant mentioned in the Indian passport, the Record of Landing and the Canadian (or Foreign) Passports differ (i.e. whole or a part of the name / surname has been added/ dropped / changed,) Change of name certificate, sworn affidavit, deed poll attested by competent authorities and clippings from newspapers in India and Canada would be required to be submitted. In case of change of surname of women after marriage, a marriage certificate issued by the Registrar of Marriages’ office would be acceptable.

Acutally we did only first name change of my son in 2008. In original indian passport shows ABC name and after we changed the name in 2008 in canadian passport shows now XYZ. but in Landing paper its still shows original name ABC.
I have a Name change certificate from Canada Govt issued by Ministry of Canada where is mentioned about original name and new name.
My question is,
Do i have to do submit all the below things as mentioned in website.....like [Change of name certificate, sworn affidavit, deed poll attested by competent authorities and clippings from newspapers in India and Canada would be required to be submitted]
do i have to do sworn affidavit for name change for my son?
I called VFS and CGI and as usual no answer from them.
your input would be help a lot.
Regards
I do not have the answer for your questions. But I thought I would mention about what I have noticed in the VFS office. Regardless of how prepared you are, you may end up being sent back for minor things. So my recommendation would be to go to the office with as much as items you could gather and meet up with the VFS agent at the counter. They will review your application and give you a list of missing things to bring on your next "attempt". Good luck.
PS: try to go early in the morning when the office opens

Dear RBO,
Only name change certificate which you already have from Canadain Government is enough.
there is no need to go for any affidavit...

Hi BL,
at that time, VFS did not ask for name change affidavit...as we had name change certificate from Govt of Canada.
if you wish to do legal name change in Canada than you have to apply through below link and you can get official certificate from Govt. of Canada which shows original name and new name in certificate.
