wow, it seems like that Bill gates is GOD. Can I mention another browser here ?
Quote:Depends - do you still wish to use the computer?

then how about IE 3/4 on Windows 9X , that might be better
Quote:Why?
yes it is FREE and opensource. It will not remove any spyware/adware you already have, but most of it will be ineffective.
Quote:LOL !
Some sites (like canadiandesi) will look different, while some may not work at all, so keep IE just in case.

How many of modern sites or software packages will run without issues on that kind of platform?
I'm willing to bet that most modern web sites and software packages will not even run on that platform.
Of course, if you mostly use Notepad and Yahoo mail, then that would be ok.

Why?
Most of the spyware and adware stuff that ever infected on my computer will run regardless of which browser is installed.
All they do is popup ads in a new instance of the browser - the type of the browser won't make any difference.
What does make a difference is the security settings on the browser.
I don't know about the security levels on those browsers, but IE does provide you with a lot of control.

What you are really saying is that - install OpenSource stuff on your computer simply because you want to hate Bill Gates and wannabe an open source dude, however, when you have to do *real* work, use IE/Microsoft tools.
Quote:Yes, ActiveX is a major screw-up in IE.

Because, most of the adware uses IE specific code (ActiveX) or exploit IE security loopholes.
Quote:Come on, there was nothing personal about it.
Huh… what’s that for? Where did I even implied it and why are you making it personal ?
