what your're saying is right NorthYork but what's the filter for this course? who decides what all things deserve a warning and others dont? i mean with so many members in here, everyone has their own yardstick....lets see some people would criticize you for the warning and some would thank you for it. but what would be the base of it all....and how many blacklists

No we do not allow any defamation/blacklisting of any provider - it has created legal problems in the past and we just want to stay away from that.
And remember, if anyone sues, he does not sue the member who is writing, but the owner and managers of this site!

"Can you legally do this? Can a vendor who may frequent this site as a member or guest sue for Defamation and Libel?"
There is nothing illegal about that..Canada still supports free speech. Defamation and libel only occur when the statement made is false.
"I think that could possibly make the tone of this site more negative and I for one would like to avoid this"
I disagree. Voicing opinions does not make a site negative. We already have many posts which complain about various issues. What we lack is a means of WARNING others to avoid the pitfalls that we experienced. Example: The newcomer to Canada rents an apartment which he later finds to be poorly maintained and in a bad neighborhood. Now he is locked into a 1 year lease. Won't he appreciate us for warning him before he signs the lease? Will warning others about the apartment make the site more negative? Think about it...

have a heart guys, we dont want people who've made this site to be in trouble!! and its been going quite well communicating through threads and offering solutions etc, instead of naming something and creating an issue we could always warn fellow cds about the information at hand and let it through PMs or threads... i mean there can be subtle ways to "warn". n thanx rain for info on defamation

If any of you has a bad experience with a vendor or service provider PLEASE spare a minute or two to post the details on this forum. This will help other CDs avoid that particular vendor.
Message to moderators: Can we create a new category 'Blacklist' so that these messages can be categorized?
