We can make a huge difference in a child's life and then down the line, to the whole society.
This Positive Energy simply spreads out as the child grows to become a mature, caring, educated and self-made Individual. And all that for about only 50 Cents (600 INR/Month) a day.
It also gives us the unique opportunity to do something for our Motherland.

Pl go thru the link below to sponsor a child or donate for a good cause.

I am not writing this to boast of what i do.
But i did contribute for World Vision Africa projects (Esp. in Niger) and it was very satisfying to the heart.
Thanks

Definitely, spending a few dollars to change another human beings life is truly noble. Strangely I have generally found amongst Indians that teh more we have the less likely we are to share with the less fortunate. I have been sponsoring an drecruiting sponsors for CRY since 1986 and I had more success In India than in places like Dubai, Muscat and Jeddah where people makes tons of money. Greed coupled with lack of empathy is sadly widely prevalant amongst us and many others around us.

My congratulations to those amongst you who choose to give to others - the amount is not the issue - hopefully you also try and give without the first thought being "can I get the tax exemption receipt please?". Also try another angle once in a while - try and spend some time with a lonely elder or someone with a terminal illness. You will find this hugely gratifying and selfless....you will also be amzed as to what strength of character some of these people have - we may have something more to gain than them from us.

Reminds me of a poetry I had heard form either Vimlesh or some other kavi - the jist of which was - father in law has cancer, MIL has alzheimers, husband has pneumonia, the child has severe bronchitis, but lady of the house goes to spend some time and treat neighbour's common cold!

In my view if you are able to make your own child, or another in your own city, a nobel citizen, is great service to the society and nation - and even a life time is short for that. There is not need to go to foreign nations to do that.

The lady of the house sounds as confused as you do Chandresh. You seem to have missed my point yet again...or did you not read the entire paragraph again?! Attention deficiency?

I live outside of my country - so whilst I will do whatever I can to help those in need back home...why should I turn away from opportunities to do the same for people in need around where I live? Why does doing good have to be restricted to those of your own nationality? Was Mother Teresa Indian?

Many people forget their roots after reaching foreign shores. I definitely don't want to spend all my money on me and my relatives/friends.

I remember back home in India out of 1 billion people, many go to bed with empty stomachs and many others die because they can't pay for medical expenses.

People here in western countries (including some of us desis) are getting fatter and fatter due to over eating and end up in hosiptals due to complication from over eating while people in africa are dying out of hunger.

I believe whatever little we donate, we should donate to the most needy people.

Poverty in western countries manytimes stems from the fact that people end up being single mothers, drug addicts etc (unlike in India / Africa where people sometimes work hard but still live in poverty because they don't earn much.)
