Hi,
We are sponsoring our child for the PR status. The child was born in US.
Time line:
We landed in july 07.
Got clearance from CPC mississauga in sept 07. We had done the medicals.
The file was sent to RPC buffalo and we got letter dtd oct18 that we are in compliance and our intial assessment was approved.
Ever since then we have been waiting.
My question is:
1. Since the child is US citizen she has 180 days to stay in canada as a visitor?
2. What happens after that ? What should we do?
3. Can the child stay for extended period since the sponsorhip for PR is in process? If yes, for how long?
Thanks for taking time to read this and your input is highly appreciated.
Don't worry about the time the child can stay. PR application is in process and if anyone asks, you can always show them the letter from CPC stating the application process.
Child's PR application is given highest priority and normally gets processed within 6 months.

You need to apply for visa extension before the expiry of 6 months and pay online fee of 75 canadian dollars. You will be able to get 1 years visa extension by mail. Dont take any chances, I had the similar case for my son.
Hi,
She actually doesnt have any visa stamped on the passport.
Can you please tell how to do the visa extension? I tried looking up, but couldnt find any info. . Thanks.

This is what I found from "visa extension guide"
"If there is no stamp, a handwritten date or document in your passport, your temporary resident status will expire six months from the day you arrived in Canada".
You may get further details and download application form from the following location: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visitor.asp
