there are companies that have furnised appartments. you can go online and find them. premier executive suites 902-420-1333 this # is for their halifax office. but you can get their vancouver one. you will be able to have an address for immigration right away. plus your wife is pregnant. she will be comfi.best of luck

Can someone please tell me what is the mode of ventilation in a basement apartment? Or is there no ventilation at all?
What about damp? Stuffiness?
I realise that different basements have different conditions, but what are the conditions generally like?
Living in India, I find it difficult to visualise people living in the basement (never seen one other than one designed by an award winning designer ---- so that does not count).
I need to be prepared for what to expect when I land in Canada, so could someone please describe a basement apartment to me?

In Vancouver, the basements are on the ground floor, well ventilated.
