Desi Charcha should be used for Constructive Purpose only
While surfing the site and the discussion boards, I have observed that few gentlemen pass on derogatory remarks against the others Consultants and individual, directly and through hidden languages. These forums should not be used as a platform for making adverse remarks against any body whatsoever. In service industry, I understand, there could be some issues. But these could be resolved with the concerned consultant and individuals directly without going through this forum, under fake ID’s.
I am a client of one immigration agency. I got my landing papers without interview in less than 10 months. I sponsored my wife through them. She got landing papers in 5 months. My parent’s case is in the process. The processing period has been increased. This delay has nothing to do with them. I am in India these days on vacation and I have referred my three friends to them.
Hidden motives to defame others must be avoided through these forums. I would request the owners of the site not to encourage these elements and their postings must get removed immediately. Our desi site should be used for constructive purpose only.
please! Nobody is defaming anyone! If you are happy about the services you received please do mention it. The members are educated enough to draw their own conclussions. Are you going to be the one to judge which remark contains more of a hidden nuance than the other? Criticism is a part of a constructive analysis. If your consultant has been good for you please do tell your friends to post their favourable experiences without trying to muzzle anyone on this site. Difference of opinion is hardly defamation! This is a public forum not a govt bulletin for gods sake! Dont try to enforce the mind police here.

I agree with both of you.
This is public forum and so must bring issues related with Canada and Canadian Immigration. Ofcourse consultants are part of the game and they might appear time to time.
However - it is also possible that one can defame others using this forum. So how do we judge what is right or wrong? Let the discussion flow without any interruption and judge based on your own?
Jake, With increased popularity of this site, I can see such alegations more and more - it should drag this site to hell! I am bit worried.

If anybody is not happy with anybody's services or response THEY HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO EXPRESS THEIR OPINION. This is an open forum and sucking up ain't the idea here. The discussions would be pretty stupid if everybody agreed with everybody.
The offended party ALSO HAS EVERY RIGHT TO COUNTER THE OPINIONS EXPRESSED AGAINST THEM. It is then upto the other members to decide.
Let me assure you that if somebody makes claims that are stupid and baseless, nobody is going to believe them. AND THIS WORKS BOTH WAYS. If you feel that a post which has absolutely no merit has been used to "defame" you, report it to the admin and he will look into it.

Here's my take on it.
1) If company XYZ advertises their credentials on the site in a post and someone who has experienced their services has had a negative experience, they should be allowed to express it in the post. So should someone who has had positive experiences.
Both parties MUST make valid claims and include their name and details in the post, and be ready to back it up with paperwork if required. Otherwise the moderator should delete the post ( I will volunteer to moderate if you need help with this ). The reason for this is I can create 10 users from my home PC and input any bs I like, whether pro or against. And I don't know if there's a way to stop this.
2) If someone wants to complain against someone in a NEW post, they should not use names, rather use generics. e.g. One Consulting firm instead of a XYZ firm, one junk "food" vendor instead of McDonalds, One funny as hell show instead of the Simpsons etc etc.
The exception to #2 would be when someone has a link to a valid news article. In this case they should be allowed to provide the link.
3) Last but not least, I do agree that the basic purpose of this site is to be constructive. But like Jake said, criticism is a part of being constructive. If the moderator observes that a thread is getting into nothing more than namecalling, he/she should either lock or delete it.
I think whoever is providing free services on this site for others should be commended. And I am sure there are people who do, check some of the responses and you'll know how grateful people are. But let's not give "angel" status to anyone, no one is beyond contempt.
I totally agree with your concern that allegations and rebuttals will drag the site down, but maybe you can wait a bit and watch before you enforce a stricter policy.
