Ulkesh,

1. Contact Ministry of Health in BC for your BC health card. It will cost you per month for health. The head office is in Victoria. the website is:
http://www.gov.bc.ca/bvprd/bc/channel.do?action=ministry&channelID=-8387&navId=NAV_ID_province

2. Licence can be obtained from ICBC: Insurance corp of bc: http://www.icbc.com/

3. Vehicle Insurance - you can go to a private insurance broker to receive the insurance (though I believe its also ICBC insurance)

4. SIN and PR are both given once in Canada. You carry the same SIN no matter where you move to.

best of luck. if you would like to join the CD group please PM me with your contact info and I'll add you to the contact list of Vancouver CDs - we are planning to meet up in May.

Yes, you have to pay $54/person or $108/family of 2 or more.

Is it free in Ontario?

Welcome to Vancouver.

In ontario you pay an amount which varies from $600-$900 a year if you are working and if your salary is above a certain limit (possibly 18K a year). This is deducted from your bi-weekly/ weekly/monthly pay.
If you donot have a job then you donot need to pay! It is free in this case after an initial waiting period of 3 months.

TK,
Thanks for the info. In BC also, if you salary is below some limit, then you get premium assistance or may be 100% free. But here no deduction directly from salary & you have to pay separately (unless your company is paying the premium in full or partial).
