I know an IT guy who got laid off and became a truck driver and was making 60K plus. As now the IT industry is sort of picking up- he quit the trucking job and is now working for 50K, less money but with more satisfaction.

Another guy in the IT industry got laid off and went to India. He was making 100k plus here, and when he got laid off went to India for a break but scored a job there and is still there working for the equiv. of $50k but he is a BDM and goes all over the world on company expense. He makes less money but is more satisfied.He can't foresee ever coming back to Canada except on business, which he does regularly. As a matter of fact, he lives like a king in India.
