I have experienced two cases where the photographs sent with the application were not approved by the Immigration dept - one for my two children (while my own was approved - taken at the same time) and the other one for my niece - and they went back to Europe after a week's stay here. Now my niece has to come back to Canada on a special visa because her card is not ready.

Moreover, Subhash, can you tell us the advantage of telling the visa/immigration officer that you are going to be in Canada for only a week? It would be enlightening for all of us - cause in my opinion, such statement can only harm your case or maximum, keep it at status quo, rather than make cards delivery faster.

Hi Subash,

I am a new member at this site and came across your thread of discussion. Wish you luck.

You may perhaps be wise if you are not explicit about your plans to the immigration officer, i.e. do not tell them that you would be here for a week or so. Just go about as if you are immigrating. Do not foreclose your options by volunteering information. Like Microsoft manuals give technically correct answer but have space to manouver.

I believe the current delay for PR card is 3 months. You may not be able to apply for your PR card without your SIN (Social Insurance Number) card. Your SIN card will take about 2-3 weeks.

PR Photos - there are some specifications set by the Ministry for the photos to be used in PR card, citizenship applications, etc. Also these photographs should have been taken in the last 6-12 months. The ministry has a system of verifying this info with the photographer(s). The standards should be met or the photographs will be rejected. Suggest get the photos done in Canada.

Also remember to fill a form (there is one I do not know its' number) that would let you import (or bring in) your personal stuff in the next 5 years without any import levies. Think of some items which you would bring later when you move rest of your stuff.

GOOD LUCK
