the other day i was just calculating that i need to make around 7000-8000 a month within next 2-3 years in order to make my stay in canada worth it.
i am ready to do anything provided results are there.
right now i am going through the phase of labour jobs and i dont mind doing it if there are rewards attached to it.
i will sonner or later jump into business only wherever i stay but again speaking to people they say that investing $ 100,000 into business will earn you just enough to survive and make about 3000-4000 .wheras the same investment would mean upper middle class lifestyle in india.
so my point is how realistic my goal is , i want to evaluate and if the chances of realisation is more than 50 % i am ready to go for it as i meantioned earlier the business in india that i have is on a decline so i will have the only advantage of contacts there which is again a matter of time.
so advice me with your invalued views.
thank you in advance

Sucess is not an accident it is a result of hardwork with intelligence.
Nishit,
Firstly, I must say that you do be seem to depend, a lot, on others to make your decision for you. This may be due to your age. Ultimately, after you listen to each and every one, the one thing that you have to evaluate is if you have faith in yourself and in your abilities. You now know the ground conditions. Do you have enough faith in your own mental abilities to sustain yourself through a period of hardship and still have the courage and determination to make it? It's something only you can answer. All the sample sizes in the world will not help you. Remember that most of the wealth gatherers (note: i do not call them successful people...i strongly believe there's a difference) had to make it against all odds (greater than what you face). If they had relied only on sample sizes..they probably would not have succeeded.
My thoughts on family values is that they have to come from 'FAMILY' not society. Most people who talk about family values being corrupted here are talking about their lack of control over what others in society do. These values can be corrupted wherever you are. There are unwanted pregnancies and sexual promiscucity (these are examples of family values that most people here quote) in even the most conservative villages in India. So be ready to spend time with your family inorder to inculcate 'Family Values'...wherever you are.
Given your age this is the advice I would give you. Evaluate your own strengths and weaknesses. Do you think you can do it? If the answer is YES then prepare yourself for the long haul. Read up inspirational work. Read about how others have overcome odds. Even if it is about how the artist who lost his arms and taught himself to paint with his feet OR about the life of Martin luther king jr. If you read negative accounts...tell yourself that you are different. If you cannot handle it, do not read negative stuff. Stay away from what is inconsistent wih your goals. You will overcome! No matter what everyone says. Then MAKE IT HAPPEN to you! When the rewards come it will be worth it. Incase you make this decision then I would refer you to Sam Waltons(Wal-mart) 1st and 10th commandments for business...I paraphrase below
1) Commit to your goals
10) Blaze your own path.
On the other hand it would be much easier for you to go back and live an \"Upper Middle class'' life. Logic and probably your sample size will tell you to take that route.
It does take a stronger person (maybe even foolhardy) to take the more difficult path...but 'history' is made by such people...not by someone who does a 9-5 job all his life(not that they cannot lead a happy life).
Does this advice apply to an older person. Depends on the person. Because it takes much more mental strength to overcome barriers once you are older... a lot of other factors come into play. You, at 21, do not have all that baggage.
As for guarantees that you will make it...there are none. That's life for you. Be it here or in India. Logic would tell you that the odds are better for you in India. Ultimately, what do YOU think?

I went to India in July and my neighbor there (In N Delhi) who is a manager in a software company there was absolutely insistent that i come back as soon as possible. As per him "india is where the action is and where it will be in the near future.
In your case the biggest + point is you are young.

Hi All,
I read all the comments, that u people give with first hand exprince. I am 30 year old software professional from delhi. Earn Rs 6 lakhs plus. I have applied for canada immigration. Looks forward to come in year time.
I had exprince to visit many area due to my profession. US, Europe both. But been to boston, newyork area. I assume they are same as toronto.
I take desion to immigrate to canada taking long term point. I could easyily qualify to go to UK under HSMP scheme. But one need to think lot more than mere better & easy job prospects. One should take care of long term view. I know today percentage of sikhs living in canada are same as in india. The racial discrimitaion is certainly less in land of immigrants than euorope. Area is more wide open. As for the oppurtunity. Certainly living close to US is advantange.
As for India. I have to say, country is growing fast. Oppurtunities are coming. But still it have long way to go. In any case I am not going to snap relation with my country. So if outsource is the buzz word (software & other feilds) in the global ecnomy. Be it. Better levergare ur indian connection. Get business from north amrica continenet & source to india.
One should be in position to use the situation. Tomarrow u will see bio-technology or new energy sector is rising, get urself skilled to new demand. What I find while in developed world., people here have more oppurtunity to reskill than in developing world. But I find people here just study upto 10 -12 class & then want independent life without effort. So they look for labour jobs etc. While the ecnomy inthe world is moving more towards knowlegde based.
I find many of my cousion siblings whose parents migrate in 70 's did not do well in studies. None of them is doctor or engineer. ( I guess problem lies with there paremts as none of them were educated so do not know that value) While my parents stay in india ( I guess they study more bit get govt jobs) So go on to get high education. Now petty well settle in india.
But still some thing is missing called quality of life. Thats what I look forward in the developed world.
U feel like driving in india , it is nothing short of marathon passing delhi streets & then driving thorugh village site, I bet if ur car did not break down.
U feel like going to public hospital for ur parents checkup . Just forget.
U feel like getting some phone connectiopn, car paper work done, home clearnace etc in indian govt offices. Just visit & feel the quality of service.
I expect in day to day life the hassels should be less, & oppurtunity for ur childern should be more. Of cource provided u make sure that ur kids study well in this new global knowlege based ecnomy.

infocan
Well, without listing any bank statements, I can assure you that it is quite easy to feel comfy in Cnauckland... Just get the best education in applied science or infotech and get to work soon as you show up; true, sometimes even the best education may not get you anywhere, or you may languish without good employment when you show up here.... However, that is where the ingenuity of your education must pop up and help you learn from surroundings and move forward.... It is a few weeks shy of 8 years and I am steadily moving toward three-quarter mil in savings/retirement... But I do feel some incomprehensible compulsion to "return"... Who knows I might. I have started the OCI process with that in mind. You should never buy into anybody else's formula for success. Science and Tech did me good but I know a few who are languishing and wondering if it was a blessing from a previous life (good deeds done in that life) that got me going at breakneck pace...
Stop wondering about what others are doing to succeed and ask yourself, what it is that you can do best and how to get a chance to do it... Cash will follow. Those work their arse off seem to have much less free time to burn what they earn so they end up becoming good at saving.
Well very said GI .
Dilemma mentioned in thread will stay forever .
Any particular reason for digging a 09 year old thread ?
