Its the ubiquotous q ?? And subjective replies as well.
In India salaries are rising and middle class income is increasing and in a place like B'lore u get excellent climate and crowd (v/s North) and god place 2 settle down as well -- well laid out . Ur own society , culture and comfort , not 2 mention the career rise .Earning 15 K 2day cud mean 40K 2mrw --- and so on what more can a man ask .? Definitely a formidable option .

Prahar,
My suggestion would be to work for a multinational in B'lore. They pay very well. With your exp in USA, I think you will have a very good chance. At you will have a chance to go around the world on business.
I have read all your views. You are not comparing apple to apple. Cell phone and Cars are not by any mean are correct measure of your quality of life. It all come to what quality of life will you get in Banglore and what you will in canada. If you have family (parents etc) living in Banglore then ofcourse its a pros but if they are living in Bihar or in Calcutta than it wont make much of a differnce b/w B'lore and Toronto. You have skills you have worked 4 years for IT in US you can do better in canada too , Guys with your level in canada are earning 50k -70k CA$ . Now compare from here if you are saving 20kCA$ to 25k CA$ a year in your bank , plus your all health coverage is free, plus you are getting money for having children , plus your children are going to school which by no mean of any sub-standard as compare to a very good english medium private school in B'lore which is charging 5k-10k INR per month for your child. And last but not least your social security covered you if (God forbidden ) become disable.
Now the expense in Banglore to afford this kind of living would be but not limited to
house or apartment rent per month Rs 10k -15k
2 children school fees approx Rs 10k -20k
Car Petrol cost (Rs40 a litre assuming a litre take you 10km) and you drive 10 km a day ) per month Rs 1.2 k
Car insurance per month Rs 2k
Car maintanance per month Rs 0.5k
Food and grocery (for 4 members) Rs 10k
Pocket money for spouse and kids Rs 3k
Electric bill (with or without AC) Rs 1k to Rs 3 K
Gas and Water and severage bill Rs 1k
Newspaper and other bills Rs 1k
Once a week dining outside Rs 4k
Etc expense Rs 5K
Total Per month ======= Rs 48.7k to 65.7 k
Now if your wife is at home with your two kids and assuming you are making 40k gross income in a multinational in B'lore
your Net income 40k - 25% income tax = 30 k
Now brother compare it with your idealogical B'lore in this 30 k how do you manange to provide a quality of life worth 49k to 65k , In toronto you can easily do that with one person income per family and still you will save some 15k to 20k CA$ .
Now if you are in B'lore and if your wife is making 15k also than probably you will afford lower end but you will lose all good dishes and your kids will lose mothers attention and probably you would be dinning out instead of once a week probably thrice a week or you would hire a good cook cum nani for an extra Rs 5k.
B'lore is rising but living standard in B'lore is not comparable to as of toronto. You can see WELL EDUCATED ENGINEERS from B'lore dont wear a colonge or dont wear deodrant.
Just skills are nothing , if you want to spend a quality life than consider all factors.
Hope I don't heart anybody just want to share my opinion.

I wonder how long the call centres would survive. The only reason call centres are being relocated to India is because of cost advantages. There is no guarantee that for the next few decades India would retain that cost advantage. So, what will you do when call centre business goes to some other country?
For argument's sake in order to remain competitive let's assume that the call centre company you're working has decided to move to some remote area miles away from civilization. Because, you're no longer in B'lore you automatically will have a reduction in pay. Then, are you willing to relocate and take a pay cut?
The point I am making is that whatever business you see in B'lore is cyclical in nature. With the increasing globalization of business please be wary of making long term decisions based on the current attractions of B'lore (or any city for that matter).
By the way I am from AP but I love B'lore and it's the best place to live in India (apart from home town)
Regards
Daks
Hi Guys,
I moved from US 4 months ago. I worked as network engineer for 4 yrs and left my job to come here. I am certified in microsoft ,cisco but still I have no job. It is all bullshit here. There is no value for skills. Lot of discrimination. I see lot of people from US without jobs here. I threw up a good job and came here and then realised this place sucks.
americans are much better. here you need canadian experience. They think oracle, sap work the canadian way. Rubbish.
I havent lost confidence but its frustrating. Have to support my wife and kid. my wife also threw up her software job and came here to live the canadian dream. You dont live here, you exist trying to make ends meet.
Most of them are unhappy.definitely india is better.
After 10 yrs of working in IT, If i am to work as security guard or pizza delivery what use is my experience and eucation. Its all bullshit man. I havent seen a single indian willing to help.they all talk big talk but nothing
You cannot make any money here.
Hi
If I were you, I would definitely move back to Bangalore.
The reasons:-
1. The future of IT in north America is quite uncertain, with most of the jobs moving to India and other low cost countries.
2. The current outlook for jobs in India is really bright and not so bright in Canada
3. Forget about saving any money in Canada. If you can make both ends meet, well that is great (Most of the desis will agree with me at this point)
4. Lot of people come to Canada for citizenship for either themselves or their children. In your case, that is not an issue(I guess) since your daughter is already a US citizen
5. The fact that your wife is employed in India makes settling down easy in India
In short, if I were you, I would have already packed my bags and left Canada

Sridharm,
Why did you leave US? Becuase of GC problem? And both of you had jobs? Man, this is not good. I do understand your frustration. Been there before. Please keep your options open. See if you can get back to US with a job in hand. The longer you stay in Canada without a job, more of your savings down the drain. Also keep India as an option. Things are looking much better now.
