Now we came in May and we are jobless till Jan mid. After putting so much efforts also, if we don't get job then what to do next? Are we eligible for some benefits from Govt? Will he able to get some funds from Govt for further studies? We have come mentally prepared for six months of struggle and joblessness. But suppose recession continues and we are jobless after Jan also, How to survive?

Gopal,
Canada is a socialist country. By that it means that it will not help people with money while helping people with no money. That is why this is not a country for professionals (other than IT or finance) but a country for refugees and poor people.
If you have a house / apartment (mortgage) with no job, then you may not be eligible for MANY govt. benefits which you otherwise may be eligible for.
Canada expects you (if you own a house / apartment on mortgage) to either pay from your savings or work 2 labour job per person to pay your bills. You have to live in Canada with your own money whether you have a job or not or your are free to LEAVE the country (that is not what I am saying but that is the attitute of many people in Canada who have a NICE job).
Canada offers some social assistance program (most applies to persons with out a house mortgage and who live on rent. I am marking it with * - which would mean that you will not be eligible for these facilities marked with an * - if your have a mortgage). These are all legal and many govt. officials encourage you to use it as they know that if you stay in this country, then you will pay taxes for whatever you earn and they will know that if you have children, then the children will compell you to work in labour jobs to make them stay in Canada
Benefits
1. Social assistance which the govt. gives free money to sustain your self in this country if you donot have a jobs. Around $517 for a 1 person family and $1037 for a 2 person family *
2. Free food from food banks to help you eat everyday ,when you canot find a job
3. Subsidised hydro *
4. $100 a month to help you pay rent *
5. CCTB and Universal child benefits
6. National child suppliment help *
7. Free or Subsidised daycare while you look for work ( You MAY NOT be eligible if you pay mortgage as they will expect the equity that you saved in your house as savings) *
8. GST/PST credit.
9. A $1000 cheque from the govt .of Ontario before June 2010 to help you with the Harmonisation
all the best in yoru stay in Canada
hope this helps.
Peace by TK

It's funny, but that's the fact. Agree with TK on this.
When you enter Canada you have to show PROOF OF FUNDS. That ought to keep them going for an year at the least.
So, hang in there and weather out the difficult times. Hope it improves and you are then in the upswing.
Some become lethargic and loose hopes and then depart. It is because of the disillusion. Will they return?
Who knows? May return to see what it is that they missed.
Hang in there. Better times are ahead. (I am an optimist)
Freddie.
