Dear Friends,
I hold Canadian PR and working in Dubai. Its beign 2 years since i got my Canadian PR.
I intend to work outside canada for few more years and looking into the possibility of retaining PR status in canada.
my query is
1) Can i retain Canadian PR without full filling the 2 years requirement out of 5 years in Canada
2) If i open a company in canada with my PR status and show that i'm working for that company in dubai ( on deputation) will i be in a position to retain my canadian PR Status?
ie. I'm in IT. my employer in Dubai have agreed to give me contract in the name of my company.
my intention is to claim in canada that i'm working on projects for the canadian company ( which is mine). i'll be also showing the monthly billing for my company ( my current Salary) as company earning which i got by doing project work in dubai.
Seeing Experts Guidance.
Thanks in advance Gurus.
Cheers
Suresh
What you suggest will not work. It is illegal under Canadian law to set up a company only for the purposes of maintaining PR. If you set something up with 5-10 employees it is understandable but not if you are the only employee.
In your case best thing would be
1) Send your spouse/kid to Canada and let them live here. Visit them ocassionally.
2) Buy a house in Canada or invest in a business to show residential ties. Even then there is no guarantee.
Come to Canada every two years..stay for a few days and go back

may be you should apply for PR in Australia or New Zealand.
you get yet three more years to stay away from those countries once you land and exit.
dont get me wrong but however insensible... may be there is a certain degree of possibility at this option that you should look at...
I will go with what Fido has to say...
if the intention is not to stay and get a citizenship and live in canada...
what is the idea of maintaining your residence..
Thanks a ton for all your replies and queries.
My clarifications for the queries raised.
1) I would like to retain my PR card for the benefits comes with it. I'm not interested in Free Medical or Free Education but the Facility it provides in accessing Canadian / American Markets ( for a person like me who plans to run small business).
I'm ready to report my earning / Company earning in Canada and will be paying Individual as well as company taxes for the revenue generated by me
I'm also ready to maintain assets / Money in Bank in Canada.
I'll be also visiting regularly Canada for my business purposes.
2. Also i would like to mentioned that I like Canada and loved verymuch my stay there when i was present for 8 months prior to applying my Canadian PR in Work Permit.
Thanks gurus and pls Your inputs are very valuable to me.Looking for your guidance.
Thanks
Suresh
