Thanks for all your replies. Looks like my friend has enough materials to think of before taking a final decision.

Thank you once again

Hi Fido

I will update. But, looks like he is more into continuing over here rather than moving to dubai.

Per him, Here are some of the thoughts. Thanks for the contribution by fellow desis.

-Kid's education : More stability
-Saving potential- doesnt look that great and is comparable to Canadian earnings. Over a period of time, doesnt offer any big advantage
-Overall life - better in Canada
-Better career prospects.

His initial thoughts were in terms of making some quick bucks, but, after reading various posts here, it looks like that is not going to be easy.

Thanks once again

T

question: Do women have to wear veils in Dubai?

Would this be a big culture shock for your friends wife who may enjoy more personal freedom in Canada?

No.

There isn't any country to my knowledge other than Saudi Arabia mandates that. Even Saudi doesn't require women to cover the face but the head scarfs.

Yeah, many women (men too) will lose the opportunity (freedom of thoughts) to stroll around in skimpy outfit and perhaps lose the pride of going whole family in such outfit.

No you can wear any kind of dresses in Dubai. Even if you go to the beach you will see women wearing bikinis.

Though i think in Sharjah they are a bit strict and dont allow you to wear a short skirt ....... not too sure about that.

But Dubai ..... anything goes as far as dress is concerned.

Saudi is a different place all together. Forget about the dress, they dont allow women to move around with out a male member (husband or father) of family.
