Well written.
For sure, I know Dubai is not the place it was even 3 years back. Considering the current situation of the person in the subject, he has to reconsider his decision to move.

I am from Abu Dhabi and is all set to move to Canada in June 07 again.

He should not take the offer for the following reasons:

Dubai accomodation is expensive, for 1BHK he will have to spend above Dhs 70K per annum.

He will spend hours in travelling to office, traffic jams are daily affair.

If his work place is on the Sheik Zayad Road he will pay Dhs 4 toll tax for every entry

He wont find good canadian schools for the kids

He will roam in the streets for hours to find a parking that too a paid one.

Kids will be exposed to appartment atmosphere inhailing poluted air unlike canada.

Dhs 25K per month is not a very good salary for a person who is already making 90K CAD.

He will be spending good amount on education unlike in canada

He will have to send kids out of UAE after plus 2 class.

Well, I am a person who lived in Dubai for 10 years.
I feel That it is a big mistake from my side to come to Canada.

I cannot compare Dubai with Canada. Life is much easier and the pay is uncomparable.

Personally to my opinion, it is always better to go back to Dubai and live.

All my friends who came here has left Canada. some people stayed 5 years, some 3 years, and some only couple of months, and there are people who left after one month.

The sooner you leave the smater you are !!!!

It is difficult for people from Dubai because they dont want to slug it out looking for a job. They would normally spend a few weeks or months to look for a job.
Tell me honestly if you were to get a salary which is same as you get in Dubai , would you stay back in Canada or go to Dubai?

I think both the sides have their +ves and -ves as bein discussed in other posts .

I would not digress any further and revert back to the OP specific case in q.

Living in Al Ghussais / Karama , how much should our friend spend on an average housing , car , education and an average lifestyle being in Dubai getting AED 25 K ?

How much would be his savings anually ,considering 1 month bonus of a paid vacation to India ?

Weather is good , Indian culture is predominant , India is close ~ who knows our friend may be spending next 10 years in the GCC...... But where would he be after 10 yrs if he wishes to return to N America ?

In other words would the OP please explain how much value adding this job and experience would be to his profile . If it is only for money , he should think twice . But if it is both money and career enhancement , its way to go.

For same salary, I will stay in Dubai.

Reasons
1. No tax.
2. insurance for the car is way much less ($50.00/year for the third party insurance)
3. No property tax ( for owning a house)
4. No penality for the electricity & water bills for the mistake by the former goverment.
5. Gas prices much less.
6. No hidden charges.
7. smoother roads & infrastructure.
8. Better medical service.
9. Better quality control of foods.
10. Laws of the country is pretty straight forward.

Now anybody can add more.........

If he is going to buy a property it is ok ... otherwise he has to rent a place .... that is spending atleast 75- 100, 000 for rental per annum. This can go into mortage payment here in Canada. Again school fees for two kids .... anywhere from Dh 7,000 per kid to Dh. 20,000 per kid ... depending on the school... health care .... to be paid .... as the salary is consolidated.

Duabi was very good some time back when you had all the perks ... free health care, cheap rentals ...... on an average a family could save almost 50% our your salary .... but not now ..... Though i must add it is a wonderfull place to live in ...... Would suggest to anyone ...... go to Dubai , if only you get twice the salary you get in Canada...... this is just an indicator.... (not set in stone !!!!!!)
