Hello CD members!
After 4 years of being in Canada and having become a Canadian citizen, I now feel that i have made a very big mistake of immigrating to Canada. As far as i am concerned i have not been able to get a good job here nor maintain my previous lifestyle. I am thinking of going to the UAE and finding a suitable job there. I was wondering if we could form a group of like minded people and go there to find work. Due to my personal financial constraints i will not be able to move to the UAE in search of work atleast until Jan. 2007. If we can go as a group it will be easy to share common expenses while we look for jobs in the UAE. Are there any like minded people in this forum? I am looking mainly around Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah areas. Also people can share what they know about the positiveness and negetiveness of UAE.

Sidenote : Please note that even if i move to UAE, i will still be a Canadian desi (spreading the message of the positive reality of Canada). Also my travel date is not set in stone as i have financial commitments/ problems which i hope to solve by jan 2007. if not then my travel date will have to be postponed. Also i have a friend in Cambridge-a tamil (not a member of the CD forum) who is ready to come with me to UAE anytime i intend to move there.
Sidenote2 : Message from my friend in Dubai ->
dear TK,
first of all pls try the employment agency sites, i sent it to you and see if anything is coming closer to your requirements and at the same time send mails to them and ask as many questions as you want and fix up something before you move out. here in dubai it will cost you usd 75-80 per day plus food and travel around the city to employment centers per trip usd 10-15, to convert visit visa into employment visa the procedure is when you find employment here the company itself will ask you to exit the country and to enter in their employment visa.
Sidenote 3 : Web Addresses of employment agencies in the UAE/ Dubai ->

Dear T.K. Saab
You have all the qualities of remaining in news like some bollywood stars.
Using Amma's picture is one, including many others and now this new thing about UAE.
I understand you have not found the right position for you in Canada. There are many factors involved, some positive some negative. I got, from your posts only, that your wife has reached a right job. Give some more time to you as well. Four years (including half time cursing the system and time spent on 3.12 posts a day on CD site) is not good enough time. I am not defending the system here but trying to say no place is just without problems, biasism and all that. I had been subjected to bigotry in Canada. (See my posts in 'Bigotry in Canada') You think UAE will be without any problems. No place is...
And why to take Desis from here to share expenses in UAE? You will find many there, in fact everywhere for that matter. After trying some more countries, if you plan to change planet, you might find Desis there as well.

Ben,
Having been in Saudi and in Canada, I am aware of what will await me in in Dubai/UAE. Many of my friends and relatives are there (though i donot wish to use their services). To me personally UAE will offer a better life, profession and lifestyle. I am unable to leave immediately due to financial commitments in Canada and will leave once it is cleared.
I was looking for likeminded CD's to form a network and that was all. If i get no companions from CD, me and my Cambridge friend will proceed to UAE alone.

Sidenote : I am also looking for some tips from former UAE residents like cheap place to stay (By cheap, i mean reasonable cost and not the Canadian Cheap-Note added after Mr. Chandresh's post below)), agency contacts etc...

Hi TK,
Check out the appointment section in website of Khaleejtimes http://www.khaleejtimes.com/appointment.asp.
Search in the charcha section for the list of recruitment agencies in Dubai, someone had posted it long back. For details regarding accommodation etc visit website of Gulfnews http://www.gulfnews.com/home/index.html

I am with you on this TK. I firmly believe that we have one life and we have a right to be happy. If you think that Dubai will give you the lifestyle, quality of life and most importantly happiness then go for it. I hope and pray that you get to UAE at the time you want to and get a good job and lifestyle and are happy.

Success
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded. Bessie Stanley
