You are around 100% correct that Cdn. Passport does not matter for many jobs in India. But with rapid economic development even India would be looking to put the designation of foreign consultant to people of Indian origin but who hold foreign passports and you might land into a good job just for the sake of your passport. It is already hapenning in IT and in MNC + local companies like reliance, DLF, ITC Etc...
Cdn. Passport has maximum use in , Australia, NZ, SOuth America,Europe, USA, Parts of Asia like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei and the gulf where you can just enter without a formal visa, stay with your friends and then look for jobs abd settle down. In the gulf, it will enable you to visit all of GCC looking for a job.

Australia issues what is called the ETA which is a e-visa or Electronic Travel Authority. This is not evident in the passport, however, is valid for touristic visits for upto 3 months. Beyond that a visa that is stamped on a passport is required.
Travelers can apply for an ETA online or through a travel agency.
Just a side note, most countries that Canadians can travel without visas allow entry and stay visa free only upto 90 days, some up to 180 days.
