"If money is the only thing driving life, you are forever condemned to meandering! I hope there are some other things that make it more fun to hang out here, there or anywhere."
I agree on this globalindian, I left India for LOVE (my husband)! I was working with American Express making Rs.30K per month till 1999. Dunno what it had been now.
Though I disagree on the Indonesia and Iraq example, India growth is not a bubble (I wish this growth goes further from our metro cities to the villages too…to the real India), the salaries infact are good compared to old times...there's no harm if people want to go back even if it is for money.

Looking from both sides, IMO, its a headache for HR folks. There could be thousands of resumes. But the way things are in univ and colleges, they need lot of improvement. There is complete lack of soft skills. Learning how to write codes or accounting is not a big deal. There are other things too.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"
One thing I must correct myself from my earlier post. I have learnt that salaries are really astronomical in India. To earn 10 -15 Lacs in India is not a big deal any more.

Charlie,
You can try by applying through Naukri.com (The premier job site in India). If your skill is in demand, suerly they will call you. Also i feel that if you were already working in India (for some skills) you would certainly have an edge.
The other better thing is that I am sure that the Gulf countries will most certainly recogonise your talent. For employment in the Gulf, the best chance will be if you go in search of jobs there.
Once again, I would emphasize that your skill set should be in demand.
For Eg. An architect who works in Factories drawing boxes in Autocad would NOT surely get a good job either in the Gulf or in India. I am sure you do understand. You need to exhibit a certain level of competence for your experience.
