Once my former boss adviced to me that the best thing in Life is to have Options. If you do not like your job, the company or even your work environment you need to have option(s) to make a switch.

Whoever I speak to from India is communicating the same: \"Jobs are chasing People\" unlike \"People chasing Jobs\".

I learnt that the best profession to be in today in India are Accountants with CA qualification. If there are any good Experienced CA's from India you can walk into Reliance Capital with Rs.60Lakhs per annum MINIMUM to start with.

Here is the link for yourstudy:

There are many top notch managers who are spending half the time of their working day being disturbed by Head Hunters trying to sell them a new opening.

* Here I was running around from pillar to post asking people to look at my resume.

Samsung is setting up a manufacturing setup in Chennai and it is sucking up all the Electronics Engineers.

In a lighter note I want say \"RAJAND ZINDABAD\" for taking the right step/gamble when every one was dissuading him he took the plunge to become a R2I. Rajand is a true trend setter for CD's.

There are two more such Zindabad to DIO and Ramar2005 for doing the same.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....

"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"

What is so new / unique about this? Is this not just common sense and did you not know of it before?

This was the case 10 years back too. Good people with the correct skills and the right qualifications were always in demand.

Again when was being a CA not a best profession. CA's anyway earned good money. Secondly these 60L theory, where did you hear it. The link you have provided takes you the website of the company but no such jobs are posted over there.

Now that you have your Canadian citizenship, when do we get the opportunity to "Zindabad' to you. Set an example - do not just point to others actions.

Charlie,
I think your friend has a raw deal.
This is a link about my college (REC, Trichy now NIT Trichy) in which a fresher gets Rs. 23 Lakhs a year
http://www.ibnlive.com/news/fat-pay-packet-student-offered-rs-23-lakh-salary/44045-3.html

Please note that i studied in this college and that it is really a very bad college (as far as teaching goes).

Let me set some facts straight about Sankaracharya. I have visited him in his house and he forwards to me personal e-mail about his relatives and friends in which thsy state their salary and i am not at all surprised as his statements.
Remember that India is really a crazy country and remeuneration were way out of sync. even in the 1990's.
Let me give you some true examples. :

1998- My dad's salary with B.V Sc. (Veterianry Doctor) and 25 years of experience with international experience - Around Rs. 6000

1994 - In Nagpur , a Diploma in Leather Technology (3 year course) got Rs. 1.25 lakhs (black money) from a Marwadi

1990- In Chennai, a Diploma in Plastics Technology Got. Rs. 1 lakh a month

1993 - In trichy, A fresh graduate from Rec Trichy got Rs. 6000 ( Comp. Sci. Firm) and Rs. 800 ( In a Civil Engg. firm).

1994, The first salary that i got in Chennai was Rs. 2000. In 2000, I was not even able to get a job for Rs. 3,000 in Chennai b'cos i was over qualified for the kind of projects that ran there. In 2006 (Due to Building boom), My classmates are getting 40K to 60K a month in Chennai and B'lore and mind you this is for the very stupid field of Architecture.

Right now , Situation has changed much. People are now getting 10- 20 times more than the salary got in the 1990's and so I would not doubt Sankaracharya. He has told me of the reason why he is in Canada ( you can read his posts in CD to find out) and i have every reason to trust him/ belive him.

I agree with 'tamilkuravan'. I can recall few years ago, roughly in 1998-99, a family friend of my closest friend was getting about Rs. 90,000/month with company car (Maruti Zen - that was known to be a luxury car at that time). Now his qualifications - B.E. (Elect & Telecom) from one of the technical university in B'lore.

So, you can imagine now. Plenty of my friends who were average are getting Rs. 50,000/month these days in various IT fields in Delhi.

Yes, the market is going high in India, undoubtedly. But I love more in Canada.

If money is the only thing driving life, you are forever condemned to meandering! I hope there are some other things that make it more fun to hang out here, there or anywhere. I heard there was gold in Indonesia. But I did not have to go there to get it... I just bought Bre-X stock. Luckily for me, gold wasn't on the upswing for quite sometime when I decided to sell off. Months later, the whole Bre-X turned out to be yet another fraud from Canada! We may benefit from looking farther than a gold-rush. But then I have a couple of friends who thought Iraq was a great gold-rush and one of them came away, after about one year, with nearly a quarter million ahead, while the other merely escaped death.
