hey CD's

husband and I pretty much settled now, home and job wise. thank god all has gone smoothly so far

I was just wondering that are there any groups on here, that are actually active right now? in terms of meeting up , get togethers? everything seems to be a bit dated.

ok so, I go to spherion(work agency, long back), do all the tests and all, and she tells me that she has a job for me with TD Bank,' back office' work...and she goes that she'll do all my background checks and get back to me...so i cease my job search, concentrate on my studies, and wait for the job...week later the check is done and she tells me as soon as i get a date from TD she'll let me know..(in a few days )..so im like ok...not long and i wait and wait, and then she calls me and says that TD havnt got back to her but she has something with RBC in HR, (less pay and only for 2 weeks ish) so im like something is better than nothing..and its some experience, so i take it..and its all admin/ phone work..which is ok as its still some exposure...so after the contract i go back to agency to give in the time sheet, and i ask her about the TD..she goes oh, its not happening anymore as the whole department is being out-sourced to india! i'm like ok...doesnt matter that i was being given work to do that can be outsourced to india...because again, right now experience is more important, than wage. but now im back to the drawing board :-( ......

and also, as i want to get into banking, (willing/wanting to start as a 'teller' and meet all the requirements) i was handing out my resume to various local banks, and when i went into RBC (before i started work in the HR dept) the receptionist tells me that RBC don't take any resume in by hand, and the only way to apply is online...but then when i was actually working in the HR...i discovered that most of the employee's knew eachother from before...AND I was taking calls from bank managers who had just hired people ( SHE LIED!)....ahhhhh i was sooooo bleeping ticked of......i understand the whole canadian thing of 'networking' and 'promoting from within'....but thiswas just so upsetting....when you're all dressed up with a prefect resume, on resume paper, done all the right things, like addressed it to the specific person etc etc ..and then they say no...just to discover later that if u actually knew someone..if would of been a yes ( they would atleast look at my resume)....this is soooooo unfair.....i love canada, toronto....but there needs to be a gap in this circle to let in 'outsiders' .
