I have applied for PR from Buffalo and received a Letter of Acknowledgement dated April 13th. Can you tell me by when can I get my PR assuming everything runs smoothly and there is minimal wastage of time inbetween?
I am happy to be a part of CD as I read and go through all the posts with much enthusiasm.
I am an Indian working in Los Angeles.
Thanks,

about two years give or take a few months if everything is smooth... one hiccup and you are looking at an additional year or more...
I disagree on statement of 2 yrs
Here is the timeline, Since you received the ack letter on April 13th I am guessing take 10 months for letter for Medicals + Fingerprints
From there 4 more months to have a decision made and receive a Visa, Once you receive the visa the rest is on Stamping time
Only if you come across a query for additional documents for support then only your processing time increases
At present the current processing being done is for Oct2003 which means you are only 5-7 months away(The processing time from US has improved over the last year)
I applied last year and now i am submitting my medicals..so you have a live eg.
Good luck

Thanks folks for your replies. Ashish, your reply was quite helpful. However, I must point that I have sent my FBI fingerprints along with my application package. The fingerprints from India I guess are not required for us to submit since they collect it themselves, or that is what my lawyers suggested.
So overall you are looking at a 14 month processing time right?
Can I have your e-mail address??
Thanks,
Me2Canada!!

The fingerprints from India are not required but the Police Verification is required but it solely depends on the mood of the officer, My friend wasnt asked to Submit the Police cert from India but with my Interview Waiver they asked me to send them
As for FBI fingerprinting they expire in 6 months so i am guessing you would have to get them done as well , every1 i know did get them twice

You need Police clearance certificate from India. You can get it from Indian Consulate San Francisco in one day if the passport was issued from SFo or else it may take about a months time.
