Ashwani has answered Chandresh's questions accurately.

Another sidenote - I was one of the earliest applicants for the OCI scheme when it was started, so the process took 3-4 months.

Recently, my cousin and brother-in-law got their OCI in around 5 weeks time, so the process has definitely become more efficient.
