Hi to all...
I do not think that is a good idea. You can start topics which will be only applicable to Gulf based intending immigrants and automatically, the people who will contribute to it will be Gulf based.
But also remember, those topics should in some way be related to Canada in some manner - it is not advisable to start a chat session only for your life in the Gulf which will have no connection with Canada.

I don't think having a separate topic for Gulf (or any region) immigrants is going to be productive for the CD community in general.
Reasons -
1. I've never seen any point in posting timelines. Lot of people try to predict their own timeline baased on other people's posted timelines, but it doesn't quite work that way.
All cases are different and are processed at different speeds.
Trying to predict one's timeline based on other cases only causes frustration and anxiety.
If you are interested in timelines, check out the Canadian Immigration Usenet group at misc.immigration.canada - people post their timelines there by the thousands every day and other people try to predict their own cases based on that.
And when it doesn't work out that way, they post messages saying "my friend got his visa is x number of months - why haven't I got it yet".
In any case, the website of the Canadian consulate in your country of origin, as well as the CIC website has the approx. timelines for processing.
I don't see why another set of timelines is needed.
2. If you plan to post general discussion and advice under that topic, then it is better to do so as a separate topic because otherwise people who are not immigrating from the Gulf may not read that post, and hence miss out on valuable information.
If there is anything specific going on with cases from the Gulf at any point, you can always post a new topic.
But I don't like the idea of starting separate topics based on the region.
