My parents are on their first visit to canada,visa will be expiring on March2008.can someone help me is it ok to extend their stay for one term(six months)?

When did your parents enter Canada. Visa expiry has no relevance to permitted stay in Canada. A visa may be expiring in 2010 but stay is allowed only for six months.
It is OK to extend their stay but I believe you need to file for an extension of the stay with reasons.

sorry for delay .My parents came on sep13'2007 with single entry visa.
could someone help which documents are needed for extension of visa for six months?
You need to submit:
1. Applying to Change Conditions, Extend Your Stay or Remain in Canada as
a Visitor (IMM 5551)
2. Photocopies of your parents' Passport pages showing passport number,
expiry date, name, date of birth, stamped visa and/or most recent entry to
Canada and the last page wherein it shows the address
3. Processing Fee of CAD $ 150.00(2 x75.00)
The application should ideaaly be sent 45 days prior to expiry of the visa.
