Hi

I am a Indian National ,living in Toronto with PR, Planing a trip to India in June 08, comming back by August 08, but My passport Exp in DEC 08, do i have to renew it before i make trip to India

Hi,

It will be good to renew if you think that the passport will not be in good standing before you travel and when you are returning.

It should be valid for a minimum of six months when you book your ticket and also when you are returning.

So, please calculate the time to the expiry of the current Passport to the time of return. (The return date) If it is less than six months when you are entering back, then please get it renewed in advance. You have ample time at your disposal to accomplish this.

So, go and do it. (by mail )

I have travelled when my passport was about to expire in 3 months. The "6 months validity" rule is there when you are applying for any visa. In ur case, u are going to India as an Indian citizen and coming back to Canada as a permanent resident. Therefore, you should not worry about this rule. Just go in June, come back and then renew your passport before Dec 08.
