Currently i am in Canada on Visit visa, can i apply for work permit during this visit ofcouse through an employer if yes then can i staright away start working on this work permit without leaving the country and how much time will it be to complete the process.

Are you an individual with Extremely Good Qualifications? If so, try and fill out an Immigration form, and see if you qualify with sufficient points to enter here on merit. Do you have good health? If not, then don't try. This is a practice to see if you do qualify.

No, you cannot start work straight away. You will need a confirmed employment and a letter from your employer stating that. Then you will need a OPINION and a WORK PERMIT from HRSDC. Otherwise all of you will be in a whole lot of trouble. The process takes it own sweet time, but could be speeded up, but if you don't have status at that time you better prepare yourself for renewal 60 days ahead for a visa renewal. Give a good reason. YES you can work on the permit and complete the interview etc.,
You will only get a Temporary Resident Visa. When it gets over, you are back to square ONE.
