Just wondering, what exactly one should write in Follow up letter after interview.

I had two interviews, one with HR & another with Technical Manager.
They told me me within 1-2 weeks, some one will contact you for arranging one more interview with Director of Company

Its almost 10-12 days now, so wanted to follow up

What is prefer way like by phone or by email.
I have both for HR person

Also if by email, then what exactly one should write?
I don't want to write too many things, say just 2-3 lines

Can someone suggest me

Thanks

Just thank them for taking out time to talk to you and ask them for an update quoting a reason that 'You have to plan accordingly'

If you use the right words, communication from a future employee is always considered as a 'good thing.'

A follow up letter should be sent within 24 HOURS. You have waited too long.
However better late then never. Send a thank you email/letter after each interivew, even if it feels redundant.

NOT by phone. Be more formal.

You can write the following:

Your Address

Date

The name and address of the person who interviewed you

Dear Mr. XXXX

Thank you for the opportunity to meet with you to discuss the (JOB TITLE) role with XYZ COMPANY. I appreciate your time and consideration in interviewing me for this position.

As I mentioned during our discussion, I am a team player who enjoys taking initiative. In addition to being proficient in Excel, I am also detail oriented and a quick learner. I am very interested in working for you and look forward to the final decision regarding this position.

Thank you again for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

(your name)

This is a thank you letter someone has used and I have just removed personal details. You dont have to mention proficiency in Excel, just what is most relevent to the position.

A good Follow up letter. However my understanding is slightly different for the follow up letter and a thank you letter. Thank you note should be sent immediately after the interview generally within a day. Thank you note could be either an e-mail, a letter, or the facsimile. The follow up letter should be sent after the thank you note communication. This is basically to clear all of the doubts of the interviewer and ensuring that you are the best candidate for the interviewed position. If you need any assistance PM me.

You are right..a follow up letter after a thank you letter is slightly different.Once the thank you letter has been sent, the follow up can be done a week later. It can be an email or phone call. Simply "Hi this is so and so. I am calling to follow up on the ___ position that we met about last wednesday. Have you made a decision at this point?"

IF they say no..we're busy blah blah but they dont sound rude or trying to put you off, it would be ok to ask if you may call again if you havent heard from them in a week (then stick to the week, dont call earlier in your enthusiasm). You can also ask when you can expect to hear about a hiring decision.

I think 2 follow up contacts is a MAX. If you havent heard from them then assume you need to keep looking. Most employers will call you even if they have decided to hire someone else. Someone may just disappear. Take it as a learning experience and move on.

Balance between being enthusiastic/persistant and pushy thats all ! :)
