I became Canadian citizen yesterday:
Took my oath and applied for passport right away in the same building. Just noticed that the card was issued in January of 2009. Also we were given a one year pass to visit cultural sites including the science center in Toronto.
We took the oath.
lined up to receive the card/cert.
Signed the oath paper.
Went back to our seats.
Sang O'Canada and there you go.
Everyone have a good and smooth process and enjoy becoming citizen. The wait is all worth it.
Thank you everyone for all the moral support. It is great to have people in the same boat around sharing experience and helping each other.
Congrats bc2on

Hi,
I recently learned that the status of my citizenship application showed up on cic website as "Received".
So, here is the timeline so far.
Application sent out by me: Jan 19th 2009
Application receipt acknowledged on cic website: June 11 2009
Thanks to all on this list who have replied to my earlier queries. Your responses have been a beacon light for me in this process.
Can anyone please tell me if the status "Received" would mean that cic has found my application form complete for purposes of further processing and that they would have dispatched the acknowledgement and the booklet? Does the acknowledgement contain the file number that I can use to track my application?
At the moment, I can access the status of my application with my client id of my PR card. Will receiving the acknowledgement from cic entail a new login account with a file number that they will provide?
Thanks,
VD

Live and Let Live
Hi all,
In my recent update, I mentioned that my application status shows "in process" since June 16 2009.
I had a clarification to seek in this regard from all the experienced bloggers on this forum.
There is no doubt that I completed 1095 days of physical presence in Canada.
Based on the details I gave on the online residence calculator, the result shows up as "meets the residence requirements". But between 27th August 2005 to Jan 11 2006, I have 137 days of absence from Canada. I became PR on 11th August 2005. The reason for absence during the above period was -since I found a job on the west coast of Canada, I had to help with my family relocation.
But since 2006 Jan 11, I have been in Canada without a single day of absence from Canada.
Given this, can anyone please comment on how significant the 137 days of absence could be in my application processing? Will it likely delay the processing or no?
Thanks,
VD
Hi all,
Can anyone oblige with a response to my earlier query?
Thanks,
VD
