My 2 cents.
AS Jack mentioned earlier do your research before you come.
and once you have landed make it the right place for you if its not.
When i was planning to come (may 2003 )i had visited canadian desi and i had my sister here even .She repeated ly told me not to come but was not able to explain me why not.She came to India in june 2003 ( a coincidence ) when i was planning things. My desire to be here increased to an all time high after seeing her lifestyle.
When she had landed here she had to struggle a lot for 3-4 years. But when she came to India this time after her 10 yrs in Canada ;I was really impressed by her lifestyle.I was more determined and convinced of a better future after initial hardships.I made sure i landed and luck favored me i landed in september 2003.
I thought i was prepared for hardships mentally but subconciously i was not. After seeing the state of many indians around i was shocked.MY confidence was vanishing .I was here for a better prospect and not bitter prospect. Then i read articles in newspapers websites like canadiandesi.com and meeting people all just had a negative impact .I was frustrated to the level i had almost decided to go back after my studies (may 2004 ) .
I started speaking to my friends and family about going back to India: Parents accepted after initial argument and agreed to whatever i decided but my friend was not comfortable with my decision.I was always complaining about canada without even realising that this energy can be better utilised
I kept speaking to people and kept reading articles and kept visiting CD and was just trying to know the reasons of why do so many people migrate here?
Collected enough info but all failed to impress me to stay on.I was still struggling to decide what next.I kept trying for jobs nothing happened.
I had 2 choices to stay on or to go back.
Going back would mean accepting defeat.staying on was a brave and bold (foolish for many ) . I had always carried a confidence level that if one guy is making it ;it's me.I tried to regain that confidence .I am still trying .After a long thought i decided I should stay on because i am here. Now i have nothing to loose .I have already spent the amount i had to.I have already faced the worst days. Now if anything happens it can only be better then this.I will keep trying until i have posted a sucess story on this forum .
Seems i have used my dollar .

bhaiya log aur bhabhi log
yeh chah nahi hai yeh sulemani kida hai
ek baar yahan ane ka socha to sari zindagi ka dhyan bat jata hai
chalu kaam meinn mann nahi lagta, paise bhi sare isi ke piche jatey hain
vahan ki dookan bund karke yahan ka makan sajane ki baat hai
aur badi baat yeh research phukat nahin hai, jiske pass vaise bhi kam hai vo kkhaatii ho jata hai
so giv it a thought!

Nishit,
The only problem with staying on and facing the struggle is that even that costs lot of money.
So if one decides to stay and struggle, then he should carry loads of money to meet the contingencies during the struggle period.
If I had so much money, then shouldn't I utilize the same money for proper financial planning in India itself. And with this much money in India, the \"quality of life\" factor is already taken care of !
So why should one leave India?
Vishal
If i was planning to take financial help from my dad then it would have been termed a vacation and not struggle.
I plan to live on what i earn else leave.
