Looks like the great abortion debate has started in desh also. The unborn has congenital heart defect and is girl. I am puzzled why the matter is in court. Money talks in desh and they could have got it done by paying off big money.
It seems there is a rule that after x number of weeks, not sure how many weeks, one cannot get abortion. If that is the rule, then it has to be broken. That’s desh (excuse my sarcasm).

IMHO foetus regardless of age has got a life .. Abortions should be banned
( exceptions with medical conditions or forced reasons )

So the rule applies for over 20 weeks. It was mentioned on news channels in desh that the unborn is a girl. May be that could be the issue here? I am just speculating.

It is after 20 weeks. Yes it is Desh but the doctors in big cities are not risking their licences being snatched if things leak out. The couple doctor advised them to take permission from high court. Hence this media attention.
Their plea has been rejected by the court on grounds that the baby has no heart problem (panel of court doctors said that). The whole issue looks strange now.

Here is the twist......
MUMBAI: When they appear in newspapers, they are dismissed as howlers but in a medical report a single typographical error can make the difference between life and death.
In the end, it was just one word that changed the medical report submitted to the high court by J J Hospital.
On Saturday, the JJ report's conclusion read, "The committee is of the opinion that there are very fair chances that child will be born incapacitated and handicapped to survive."
On Monday morning, the JJ report submitted a report which was identical except that it said, "The committee is of the opinion that there are very least chances that child will be born incapacitated and handicapped to survive."
The change in state-run JJ Hospital's report over abortion of Niketa Mehta's unborn child may have turned the tide against the aggrieved mother.
"It was a typo," said Dr B M Subnis, dean of the JJ groups of Hospitals who had to sign the report submitted by three of his experts. The three-doctor committee was formed at the behest of the High Court's directive last week to assess the merit of Niketa Mehta's plea seeking termination of her pregnancy.
"The three experts were late in submitting their individual reports to me. I had to make several changes in the draft that my steno typed out. Three drafts had to be made before the final one," he added. The typo could thus have crept in, JJ officials felt.
A typographical error is a mistake in printing, typesetting or typing, especially one caused by striking an incorrect key. Going by this dictionary definition, the replacement of the word 'fair' with 'least' does not qualify as a typo.
