Hi friends
We (2families) had a great time visiting Disneyworld inspite of hurricane FE hitting florida the earlier week.
We had booked our 5day vacation through CAA having theme park hopping and delux dining plan.we flew out of Buffalo by south west Airlines.Got a good deal(online booking as suggested by your valuable tips)Parked our car in airport valet parking(not the best compared to service levels by long time airport parking shuttle service or fast track shuttle service)Had check in online and printed borading pass. The only problem is in the plane it is first come first served basis for seating arrangements.so my advice is get the boarding pass 24hrs b4 departure so that u can get a A seat rather than B or C.we were allowed sufficient luggage compared to other airlines.we rented economy car( in orlando through payless car(cheap compared to others )Stayed at the Comfort inn (also prebooked online)in lake Buenavista.rooms were good, clean with coffee maker, fridge, oven.they provide complimentary bfast and have additional food for 7 bucks. But the free Bfast is good enough.we checked in the disney world theme park hotel next day morning after bfast at (Allstars).it was better compared to comfort inn.(Fridge, oven were missing though)We visited the Magic kingdom as planned as this park opened for longer hours compared to others that day.Magic kingdom has a lot of rides, shows, parades and various disney charachters and sightseeing compared to others.we took fast pass for the main rides and saw other rides till the actual fast pass time.we could cover most of the shows that day and were very tired by end of day(10pm)shuttle buses run from the hotel to all parks every 20min(free).Food at magic kingdom was at good restaurants.water is expensive inside the parks.Do carry water bottle if you dont want to spend and and u can fill in the park taps. For vegetarians there is not much choice though. One could definetly carry baby carrots ,simple packed foods. They do check thoroghly b4 u enter the parks.do carry walkie talkies between two families for standing in fast pass/rides lanes.they are cheap and be purchased b4 leaving for vacation.
The next day we went to hollywood studios. Here one can see great stunt shows, rides and other fav disney plays.we had food mainly at the hotels that were member of diney world dpeneding on dining plan.
the next day we visited epcot which was very good too.Modern space rides, robots and they have a world show case with all countries(India was missing!)The firework show at 800pm was good though initially i felt they goofed with the actual fires buring unevenly.
the next day visit to animal kingdom was far the most very average compared to other parks.some memorable rides here were the kali river rapids and the mount everest rollercoaster.here one will not miss our desh as some of the parts of this park is very much reminiscient of north india.particularly the rest rooms:) we finished our vsit by 4in the afternoon and spent the rest of day at downtown disney like waterfront and shops.Souveniers are expensive. Do get your souveniers in Walgreens/Windixie (super market)
The next day we again visited the magic kingdom and had bfast with mickey in a popular resort hotel(prebooked).the later half we went back to hollywood studios to watch to finish off the rides we didnt go or the Fantasmic show at 830pm.
It rained one day for 2 hours otherwise temp was hot and humid.
we stayed in comfort inn the last two days and visited the Kenedy space center and the Cocoa beach nearby .Got cheap tickets for them too.We had GPS which was very useful.Reurn flight was ok and we were back to our routines with kids starting schooling .

I visited Disney from Chritmas to New Year 2008 and it was so cowded there was hardly any walking space. There was 2 hour wait for each ride and fast pass got over in the early morning.

The toilets had a line up and it took 20 minutes for your turn in the toilet. For buying a cup of cofee i had to wait in line for 20 minutes.

On new years countdown the whole of magic kingdom was covered with people and everone was sleeping on the ground till the new year countdown.

But overall it was fun inspite the hardship because for this last week of the year they have special programs and fireworks and lots of activites.

The whole park looked like a mela. On non seasonal days many rides are down for maintainence. But on seasonal weeks all rides are operational.

We have missed many rides and will have to go again.

Going off season has the advantage of less crowd but in on eason there are lots of other activities other then the rides.

No one will belive the USa is in recesiion if they go to Disney on this week.

Nice experience, thanks for sharing.

If OK kindly share how much did the total trip cost from home to home, a ballpark figure for a couple and a kid.

Thanks

Try sites like Expedia or Travelocity or CAA. They have packaged deals for such destinations.

Have never tried though so would not know the quality of the hotel/flight they offer

The cost depends on the Disney resort one stays, the resorts are of three types, low, medium and high (5 star). On a low budget I'll say US$2000 under for a 5-6 day trip. From Toronto to Orlando there is a Air Canada flight everyday. For first timers I'll suggest staying at a Disney resort because shuttles from Disney to-fro parks and hotels are free and save lot of money. We preferred shuttles compared to renting cars and driving. Hope this helps.
