I guess all CD's will agree that bringing up your kids and making them good citizen is a challenge. This holds true irrespective of where you live.
I am sure many of us here at CD already have their kids born and bought up in Canada.
Is it OK if request them to share their parenting exprience with young family like mine or many other CD's.
Exprience could mean how have they tackled requests from kids that they considered inappropriate age wise or culture wise.
If you would like to share please go ahead and share. Idea is to learn from experience of others
Yes, even I would like to listen to Canadian parents with young children. Do they feel kids are exposed to certain things just because you guys live in North America?
We live in South America (small city with hardly any population) and one of the reasons we are unable to relocate to Canada is the affect on kids from Metropolitan cities, (Commuting hustles, lack of family time, different culture, etc.)
I would love if parents can share their experiences of raising kids in Canada compared to India or small North American towns.
Thanks............................Jona
Hola Jonav,
Donde vives amigo? O es que estas en Brazil o en otro pais que no es hispanoparlante? Que tal las cosas por donde vives?
And how young is young? I do know that in my case my child is a teenager and she like me loves to go to concerts, but her friends' folks are usually dead agnst their children going to conerts like Spice Girls, Shakira, Nelly Furtado, Jonas Brothers etc.
And it isn't about the money either 'cos they did send their children to 'The Unforgettable Tour' for $300 a pop and Shakira and Nelly Furtado front seats were cheaper.
Also will not let their children volunteer for TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival which is on now attrcting solid big name stars like Brad Pitt, Matt damon, Paris Hilton, Anne hathaway and tons more) to get community hours but will let them volunteer for Masala!Mehndi!masti! Mosaic, or any of the other South Asian festivals.
Many other things as well.
As mentioned before long time ago , my nephews from South Mumbai (Colaba, Cuffe Parade area) came from India last year and found that contrary to their beliefs that children brought up in Canada were more 'forward thinking' and 'savvy' and the schools imparting better knowledge here, they found the whole situation to be quite the contrary.
So this culture bit.. don't know. Also within the Colaba area there will be many who are 'conservative' as well..
But I guess the 'urge' to generalise is always there.

Ok.
is it Surinam? St. Maarten?or another?
haven't been to Surinam but I have a cousin in St.Maarten and have visited it. Too small for my liking, but he is quite well off there.
Has several businesses. Several Sindhis down there.
Hurricane island.
Never really flashed on the domestic mind scene, but don't mind the wash-up help.
Canada ain't the best, so one doesn't really have to give it all one's got to sorta do 'well' here. And plenny of brethren, so ain't so bad if you are into that scene. Get a good mix actually if you are into socialising with people from other backgrounds.
My closest friends consist of people who can flash on Roy Rogers to All in the family to Jimmy Page to Richard Branson to Ambani to Narayan Murthy to Naseruddin Shah to Ravi Shankar to Julio Iglesias to Jean Paul Belmondo to..., so it's cool.
Investpro, I've sent you a PM. We almost hijacked the topic!
