Hi all CD,
See the below link for Engine codes and reason.
http://www.obd-codes.com/
may will help you a little bit. still some of newer model car codes are not available through this site.
Cheers.........
Thanks Folks ,
My problem is dual -- for one the check engine light is on and for 2 and more importantly the car when driving at a constant speed of 60 kph + intermittently shifts into a lower gear and increases the rpm ....
2 codes came this morning P0172 - System too rich ... Bank 1 ...... and P0734 - Incorrect gear ratio - 4th ..... Peel Auto Center said this was a transmission issue and could be expensive if over hauled ..... the other one could be 02 sensor ...
Though I have researched and found the exact procedure recommended by the car maker to fix it ..... my better alternative is to find a used transmission from a scrap yard .........
Does any one know , how can we get a used transmission from a scrap yard ? ... I wish to try that before I dump / trade in this car ...

Thanks RBO & TK ,
I guess since the problem is not critical , I would continue living with it ... in the mean time I shall visit the places recommended by you fellas and see whats in store ... I would try with a solenoid replacement and if that does not work a used transmission ... but my budget on this is going to be $400/- ...
I would also check with the dealership if they are equipped with better diagnostics and can repair / replace the defective part ... in lesser cost ...
Thanks fellas - will keep you posted ...
