Guys, do you know any place in Toronto/Scarborough/Markham etc that will interpret what the DTC code is behind the Check Engine Light ?
In US, Autozone does it for free. I went to PartSource as I saw a advt on there window which said free electrical testing. They say they don't it for free and that I have to buy the device, which at the moment starts from $90 bucks and upwards.
It just sucks that manufactures did not put a little LCD to spit out the number and instead put a dummy light. Canadian Chore Tire charges $85 bucks for this.
If I find no other place that checks it for free or less than that, I might have to buy this device to save some money in future.
Check this http://www.canadiandesi.ca/read.php?TID=18173
And please do post your experiences so that it can help others in the future.

As per my experience, No one will charge you for reading that code as long as you fix your car at that location. I drive hyundai and I had this issue couple of times. Dealer always did it for free. (I maintain my car at dealer).
But if you are thinking to read the code and get your car fixed somewhere else then I doubt anyone will do it.

Hi,
If you are a do it your selfer and know how to get the code with the tool and use the Owners manual and fix it yourself OR do know some one who can help you locate the problem and complete the repair, then, this is for you.
Look for the company called Part Source and 'go and get it'.

Some of these stores will permit you to buy and return most of the parts EXCEPT the Electronic ones. Once you bought it, It is Yours.
Good Luck.
Freddie.
The flyer is active for a few more days.
I brought the OBD code reader from CanadianTire yesterday.
So if anyone is interested in getting the DTC code on there car checked when the check engine light comes ON, PM me. I will charge a reasonable fee to cover my purchase of this device and then after I recover that, will do it for free for Canadian Desi Members !!
This device will work only on 1996 and newer models and has capability to turn the light OFF.

Hi Navin 2004,
I forgot to mention that Part Source is part of Canadian Tire Network.
I am glad that you found the problem associated with your vehicle and was able to turn off the 'Check Engine" light.
I do come across this problem once in a while and I find that it happens when it needs an air filter or one of the sensors such as the OXYGEN sensors go out of whack. I do some of the trouble shooting by myself and see if it turns it off. When it gets serious, I take it to the Service Center and pay and get it done by a mechanic. Because some of these parts are placed at inaccessible points and needs special tools.
Good Luck with the OBD code reader tool. Now everyone knows how to reach you and get help.
Freddie
