Cool Girl,
If you read my posts, the reason why honest hard working cdn. canot take a profit on buying houses, it is because of the crippling 5% fee. On a 300K house , you will have to set aside $15,000 write down when you sell (other charges like closing, lawyer, landtransfer etc..)
I have calculated that it takes around 3 years for you to make any kind of profit in a house.
So the $ 2000 that you mentioned will help you a lot for sure. if you got $2000 from this broker and the $2000 from another broker when you are selling your house, then you would have paid just $11000 as fees (assuming a house of 300K).
Now there is no way to recoup the fees. if you even start asking your broker for anything (now that you have signed the papers), he will start avoiding you and then not even answering your queries related to the past deal. So it is better not to talk about this to the broker that you had just used.
However, when you sell the house, you can call this broker and ask him for $4000 ($2000+$2000) comission while you will be giving the 5 % broker comission. If he is a honest person, he will be willing to give atleast $2000+$500 = $2500 which will help you a lot.

Moral of the story : always consult with Cd's before you embark on anything to get max. desi tips for savings. You did everything so fast. After hearing your story, even we have asked our realtor for $2000 (we still have not signed any contract) and he has promised to discuss this tomorrow with us.

Peace by TK

Hi TK,
Agree that $2500 is a big amount however, don't see any connection in being honest and giving commission back. If the realtor is hardworking and sell/buy-you a house while meeting all requirements but don't believe in sharing commission I'll still call him honest.

When my realtor refused to give me anything, I called another remax agent to find out if others offer something to the buyers.I did not tell her that I already bought a house as I just wanted info. She offered me $2000 if I buy house thru her.

I m not blaming my realtor completely as I know he is a salesman and he wud like to have the max profit he can make.We should have clarified terms in advance. He was recommended thru a friend so just talked casually. But the day after we signed the papers his way of talking changed which put me OFF more than loosing $2000 .

Thank-you for the clarification.

I second what you have said about these folks changing their tunes the moment you sign & close the deal (read that they now have pocketed their commission and would rather not hear about that sale from you any more). I have had a very similar experience with the agent I had to deal with and he was also referred to me by a friend (sadly).

Now, I am once bitten twice shy when I deal with any types of agents (especially real estate & insurance agents).

Sorry to know abt this ... incidentally in one of the recent posts in past 2 weeks , i d brought this issue based on an acquaintance's suggestion that realtors can give 1% of their commission to the buyer ............ it sounds like bad dealing when the person had agreed to home depot coupons earlier .

Hello CG
I see a little light at the end of tunnel.

Does this broker has his own or company web site. Normally these people boasts of ALL they have to offer there.
Talk to company persons this realter is working with.
You mention, this broker was refered by a friend. Seems that friend have used the realter before. Discuss the issue with this friend.

No offence, just curious; did you deal with a desi realter? I have experienced tones changing after deals are signed.

-Ben
