Thank you once again.
My only concern is that by end of July 2009 I would complete a total of about 63 days stay in Canada so far. As mentioned earlier I have a job out side Canada and will be able to move finally only around Aug/Sept 2010 to complete my remaining period of Residency obligation. Am I safe? I have been told that people have been stopped at the airport. My children are around in Canada since Aug. 2008. They are studying in Universities.
I hope that I am not bothering too much.
Your kids PR status will be safe (since they are in there from Aug-08) and will remain in Canada for longer, long enough to apply for Canadian citizenship. As per rules since you are not completing the required period, your PR can be in problem and can be not, it depends on the officer at port and your convincing powers with valid reasons on why you missed the period to be in Canada. Your kids studying at universities can go in your favor, anyhow no one here at the board can judge or make a guess what will happen in 2010, it depends solely on the immigrant officer at the port.
Hope it helps a bit.
Jona
Thanks Jona,
If I come in September 2010 I will still be able to fulfil the requrement of 730 days before the expiry of my first 5 year period. Because I will have to do only about 22 months out of remaining 27 months or so. My PR card expires in Dec 2012 and before that date I will be able to make 730 days.
Note for you - expiry or validity of PR Card has no bearing on PR status.
Do the math of your physical presence and ignore the PR Card.
If you are meeting the 730 days rule and your PR Card has expired, you can still enter Canada by getting a Travel Document abroad.
On the other hand, PR Card may be valid but you may miss the 730 days rule in which case you can still be denied entry.

Thanks folks. I think I understand it now.
How does one keep the record od the days present in Canada. I mean what documents should be kept as a proof to claim when necessary?
Rental receipts, credit card statements, utility bills, phone/cell phone bills, job letter or pay stubs, etc.
