Is OCI not good enough for all these you mentioned?

With certain restrictions, probably yes.

The only restriction is that you can not buy farmland, can not vote and cant not hold any public office.

If you are not going to do any of these three things thn your OCI is as good as Indian passport.

First let me share your pain about your mother last stage of cancer. I am really sorry to hear it and I know the pain you are going through. For what our parents do in rearing us, this is small sacrifice for what they did for us.

Considering your family, I don't think any mother would expect you to leave everything for her. that is how mother's heart is made of. Pure Gold. She will never bear you to be jobless and suffer because of her.

I think you should take your mother's advise before taking such big decision. In my opinion, if you were in my son's place, I would expect you to take leave for some time say 1 month and go and serve her. In case of last stage of cancer, you don't know how long she will suffer the pain. You and your wife alternatively take leave and go and be with her and serve her and I know your mother will be more happier like this, instead of you being jobless and moody etc etc.

This is my sincere advise, if you don't like it, please pardon me.

OCI is nothing but long term visa ...
How about Schooling? Probably at this stage it does not mater to OP. But as I understand, OCI holders will have to pay Fees in parity to NRIs - isnt that the case?

Now a days the shine is gone as every house has a person living abroad.

People are more money minded and have less time for social interaction.

Your own friends whom you had left behind a few years ago are all busy doing their thing and hence unlike they meeting you, they'll expect you to go and meet them. They will also be very busy in their profession or following the stock market and hence less focus on you.

We from abroad will look slightly docile in comparison the people in India.

Hence we need to adjust to this change which has happened in the last 5 years.

Agreed 100%
India, these days, is not the one we remember from years ago during our school and college days.
most peoplein the large cities are very westernised and as you said busy with their own lives.
old friendships and loyalties no longer apply.
