I need some clarifications - I am USA citizen with OCI. I wish to pursue further studies in India. Now according to OCI - it gives parity with NRI in educational field. I need to know what is the exact meaning of this? Now NRi is an Indian citizen residing aborad. So when Indian NRI fillups any application, he can mention that he has Indian nationality. The reason I am also asking becoz, in India the college/univ application forms have a field called -Nationality. Now do i mention USA or INDIAN in this field?. Becoz there is no field next to Nationality for mentioning what type of visa you carry if you are non-indian e.g. OCI.

Now even though you and I know the OCI rules (it gives parity with NRI in educational field), the staff who accepts the Indian college/univ application do not know these rules about OCI. Its also difficult to convince them. Then you have to grease palms of these stupid oficials. So please advise a procudure that will allow me to enrol w/o any problem?

NRIs have quotas in some educational institutions in India. So, you would be eligible under that category as you are an OCI holder. Your nationality remains USA.

"Parity with NRI" to me means - You remain USA National & Pay NRI fees while you avail NRI Quota.
