ok guys lets not call them mistakes. However to get along in Canada we should know how things are said here. Try saying capsicum when ordering pizza. This is about being practical and saying what is commonly accepted. And I am not reprimanding anyone :P

I guess I am wrong on route .. so its more common to pronounce as root (thats how I always pronounced it).

That could sound pretty weird, depending on who you are with :D

It means "I will take you up on your offer some other time."
For example:
You : "Let me buy you a coffee"
Me : "I'll take a raincheck. Gotta run to a meeting."

Literally, raincheck is a commitment from one party to another for delivery of goods or a product at a future date for a previously agreed price.

after eating at a restaurant do your say "Can I have the cheque/check" or "can I have the bill".

I stick to the later.

what will you say ...
I had an accident
or
I met with an accident (some variant of this)

...

One phrase (& some variant of this) that I hate to hear in some commercials ...
"Come, we are waiting to HELP you"

HELP!?!?!? as if you not gonna charge me

There are several possibilities, depending on accepted culture.
I had an accident
I met an accident
I met with an accident

The first one is grammatically correct and conveys the meaning clearly that the subject was personally involved in an accident.
However, the other two, while grammatically correct, are slightly open to interpretation.
I met an accident could indicate that the subject came across an accident but was not personally involved.
I met with an accident could mean either.
If met or met with is used to indicate that the subject was personally involved, it appears to be idiomatic usage, although correct.

That's a modern euphemism to avoid saying "we'll provide this service/product for a fee".
This phrase was incidentally made immortal by Reagan in his famous quote:
The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.
